ECU temp versus Temp gauge

Post by LeFrog »

From what I can gather on reading posts to this forum, it seems that the temperature the ECU reads, is not the same as the one the temp gauge reads from. If this is the case, where is the sensor for the ECU? I understand the temp gauge sensor to be the green plug near the thermostat.

The ECU temp sensor is also on the stat housing along side the temp guage sensor. £10.60 from Citroen main dealer. replaced mine in the summer made the car run a lot smoother. Ok the temp guage sensor has a blue plug with a grey or violet ring and the ECU sensor has a green plug with a yellow ring. Hope this helps. If you've got air con then the sensor will be almost up right off the stat housing. You'll only loose a little coolant and I found there was no need to bleed the system.

yeah, green sensor= ecu sensor for cold start (NTC type)
blue sensor = temp gauge sensor (NTC type)
brown sensor(if fitted)= for bitron/cooling fans/AC (PTC type)
