Whoops, I broke my nearside front indicator unit while I was on holiday. Some stupid fencepost decided that it had more of a right to be in that particular spot than me. Never mind, at least the Xantia's separate plastic units are affordable (£9 each) - not like these all-in-one glass headlamp units.
It doesn't look too difficult to fit, but can anyone tell me how I get at the mounting bolts for the flasher unit? Does the headlamp unit have to come out first? All advice, experiences etc, very gratefully received.

Well whaddaya know, I just answered my own question. There aren't any mounting bolts for the front indicators on a Xantia!
You just open the bonnet, stick a screwdriver down the side of the flasher unit, depress the catch on the top, and the whole assembly slides forward out from the front of the car. Why can't everything be this simple?

Or, if you're sensible ( which I am really ! ), you drill a small hole through the plastic clip and the metal bracket, and then screw the bugger in.
Otherwise, someone sticks a card / screwdriver between your bonnet and front wing, and they're away with your indicator without a trace.
( as happened to me, twice ! )
There you go, some advice without risk !
