Clutch release bearing possibly?
Or maybe a more serious gearbox problem.
Used to have a Mini years ago with the old BL A-Series engine that used to make a chattering noise while stationary in neutral with the cluch pedal released....was the release bearing but too much hassle to fix just to get rid of a bit of a noise.
If your hearing it while driving it could indicate a more serious problem....might be worth getting a main Citroen drug dealer to have a look at it.

Primary gearbox bearing is also a likely cause. When you press the clutch you are disconnecting it from the driving force of the clutch plate, hence the disappearing noise when depressed. These can just be noisey without giving any problem. I,m assuming the gearbox oil level is correct. For now lets hope it,s just a release bearing ( these have history of being noisey on these cars)

The release bearing will come in the clutch kit mate, For the trouble you will go through to repace the bearing you might as well stick the 3 part clutch kit in

Ive no idea on the cost for a Saxo, Last clutch I had fitted was paid for in beer tokens.
You need to find either a independent Citroen / Peugeot garage, A garage you know & trust or a clutch center & ask them for a all in fitted price.
Or if you win the lottery, Let the Citroen main dealer supply & fit it.
