Hi Guys,
What would you reccommend to try to improve the performance of my 1998 1.9LXTD Xsara, Is there some diesel treatment that will clean the injectors or should I have them refurbed, there are about 82k miles on it, I changed the Air filter about 6K back, any other ideas as to what I could try?
Thanks for any help
Xsara 1.9TD feeling sluggish?

Is there still a noticeable push when the turbo comes in or does it seem to have suddenly converted itself to a non-turbo?
I think this still applies to a 98 car. On the earlier ones there is a rubber tube connecting the intercooler to the injection pump. Its purpose is to communicate the inlet manifold pressure to the pump and activate the extra fuel device. Failure of this pipe is quite common (falls off, splits etc) and when this happens the pump provides no additional fuel on boost and the thing drives like a non-turbo! On my BX TD there is a branch pipe to the overboost pressure warning light and this has split as well but in fact didn't seem to make much difference.

For the sake of a few quid, give it another air filter. TD's don't like dirty ones...
Find a nice deserted bit of national speed limit road, and give it a good mile or so of a trashing TO THE RED LINE (till the rev limiter stops it revving any more) in 2nd and through to 3rd; slow down and repeat.
There may well be a solar/lunar eclipse in the rear view mirror first time; after a couple of 4700rpm runs, it should be just a misty whiff of blackness
