hi all,
I have a 205 with no brake lights - I only found this out recently. having messed about by swapping an indicator lamp from the same cluster into the empty brakelight socket, I discovered that the brake lights dont come on when the pedal is pressed, but the lamp does come on when the taillights are switched on.
Before I take it to the local garage, I was wondering if anybody has encountered this before, and if so, what it was - failing that, and "possibles" would help me out.

Welcome to the forum. Have a look down at the brake pedal, you'll find a switch. Press the pedal with your hand and see if the bit that touches the pedal moves, as sometimes the switch can stick. To check the wiring and feed, pull the wires off and connect them together, this should activate the lights. If the lights come on, the problem is the pedal switch.
