Been having problems with my 306 stuttering acceleration and for one week i had major problems where the car would not go faster than about 30 with stuttering acceleration car recently serviced new sparks replaced sparks put some STP Injector cleaner through the car still stuttery sometimes during acceleration also car makes a purring noise been to two garages and was told purr is prbably the cylinder head gasket which i don't believe it, put the car into Peugeot, Diagnostics from the vehicle show the Ignition Coil is breaking under load and a permanent fault in the Knock sensor, anyone know if this knock sensor being broken would cause this purr and is it a coil pack or coil from the gsfcarparts! what is a knock sensor as i can't find this part anywhere

dont know about the purr but the diagnostic machine could be throwing up a knock sensor fault due to the faulty coil pack causing a misfire.its is bolted onto the back of the engine block,its just a peizo electric sensor & its job is to detect misfires & when detonation takes place so that the the ECU can advance or retard the ignition timing acordingly.
