I’d like to pick the forums brains (again, sorry) on my speedo problem for Xantia 20/16v ’95.
Having posted my speedo problem before (link below) and noticed quite a few Xant owners had this problem with the electronic sensor speedo sticking at 50mph and that the common fix seemed to be replacing the gearbox speed sensor, I was about to buy a new one myself from GSF when I realised the trip mileage on my journeys to work were correct. I do the same journey each day and the trip mileage was always correct over a week of watching!
My question: Can I assume the gearbox speed sensor must be OK if the speedo unit shows the correct milage, and that the speedo unit itself has a fault? Or is there some peculiarity with the gearbox sensor unit that allows it to measure speed (mph) and mileage separately?
