Xantia 1.9D or 1.9 Turbo

Post by bozzo »

Hi all! what are the main things to look out for on the xantia appart from spheres and patchy electrics? i currantly run a pug 405 grd 1.9D but due to starship voyager millage, pond life on the floor and the need for a hatchback its time for a change.

Just read the threads on the forum - and remember, these are the cars that are giving problems - the vast (more or less silent) majority give no trouble at all. But check out DJ Wollards buying guide on:

Don't buy a 1.9D unless you really have to. 70 BHP in a car weighing 1300 kg??? Shudder....!

The 1.9D is more economical than the TD. I've got the TD, and even with 90 bhp a Xantia is not quick, the 1.9D with 70 bhp will be painfully slow.

don't buy the D. You need the turbo, your car will be dangerously underpowered if you don't .
