Xantia boot lock question

Basically how does it work?
If I unlock the car via the remote, the boot opens by pushing the button, but if I leave the car open for a few minutes, I need to use the key to open it. This is quite irritating. The manual sheds no light on this - can any of you?

not much help i know but it shouldnt do that, have a look at the lock mechanism- maybe something slowly falls back into place relocking it
