knackered starter

Post by rubjonny »

To add to the long list of problems suffered by my girlfriends AX, the starter motor has packed up (well it sounds like the solonoid has packed in)
Anyway I would like to know what other Citroen/Peugeot models have the same type, its a MK1 1989 Citroen AX 1.4 TZS.
I'm going to do the usual fiddling with the wires before I go out and buy one, but a list of compatible makes would be nice :)

you could download the catalogue from the downloads section and try comparing numbers or have a look at the on-line shop.

An '89 AX14 would have the type K1G TU engine. Same engine is used in BX14 '88 on, and the smaller Peug 1.4 variants '88 on.

A BX 1.4 of the same age, an 85-88 C15 with a 1.0/1.1/1.4 engine, Pug 205 87-90 1.0/1.1/1.3/1.4/1.4i/1.6, Pug 309 88-on 1.1/1.4, Pug 405 1.4 (never knew they made one!).
Best bet for choice is the P.205 as that starter was fitted to so many models from an age that is often scrapped now.
