2L Cambelt Change
please help i am going to do a belt change on sunday, please help with ideas to help the job this is the first one i have done on this 16v 2l 1999 car
Anders has a fool proof way of doing this.
Mark the cambelt at two points with a white out (tippex) pen. Remove the belt.
Sit new belt onto old and mark teeth on the new belt to correspond to the old one and do a tooth count.
Refit belt lining marks on the new belt to the marks placed on the gears prior to removal, when you marked the old belt. Recount teeth to be sure it is exactly the same and fit.
Set tension.
Most Important:-
Whilst the belt is off and until trhe tension is set, do not turn the engine under any circumstances.
Remove the spark plugs prior to commencing the job and refit on conclusion.
