help! 306 fuel cap

Got a 306 this week. Unfortunately it doesn't have a handbook, and I'm probably being a bit of a retard but I can't work out how to open the fuel filler cap thing!!
Also both plip keys aren't working. Would new batteries do the trick or are they likely to be fried?

the fuel cap release lever is located by the drivers door and seat, it should have a fuel picture on it!
as for the plips...batteries are always areason why they might not be working...another may be because they arnt programed however...
