XM locks

Post by DomF9 »

Hi
This recent XM I bought has a few quirks, and like all XM owners I can endless weekends of trying to get to the bottom of them all.
The previous owner lost the plipper but I have two keys, one original and one pattern item. They both fit the drivers door lock and ignition. However, I've noticed that both of them just turn in either the glovebox, passenger door lock or boot lock. Is it likely that the ignition and drivers lock were changed, or is it something odd (ie a Citroen quirk)?

The original keys supplied with the XM are of two categories - master and garage. The master key fits all locks, while the garage (workshop) key doesn't open the boot or the glovebox (I wonder what Citroën think about garages than - untrusting types!)

I think the old Rover 800 had this feature with the keys also.

Thanks
That would indicate that I have 2 "garage" keys. A trip to Citroen again, methinks.
