Anti-sink seems to be working fine as today when I got to work (about 40km of driving) and parked the car it didn't sink to the bottom. I've gotten away with it so it seems (jinxxxxxxx!!!).

When I started the car it did what it does every morning. Drops on the passenger side (LHD mind you) and you can hear a bang! like pressure is being released somewhere (some kind of piston maybe). Then it drops on the drivers side and in a while it comes up on both sides quite suddenly. Well nothing too strange for an Activa I would say...

Done a little bit of fidling yesterday as I changed my instrument panel. The old speedo meter jumped to 40km/h on ignition and then it just showed 40km/h over speed. Also the kilometers were not showing on display. Since I was working I decided to change the clock as it was resetting constantly and also the illumination didn't work.

Now I have a properly working speedo meter, kilometers meter and also time meter 8-)

Xantia fans here is a question for you! Anyone notice the difference between my old panel and the new one? Hint old one year 1998, new one year 2000

Just thinking out loud... Could the farting and STOP light going out immediately be related? As I'm aware there is a sensor for pressure that sends a signal when there is enough pressure and puts out the STOP light. Is that sensor on the security valve? If I remember right farting and STOP light problems started at the same time...

Yes, the late one has 'outline' warning lights whereas the earlier one will have 'full block' warning lights :)

The farting and STOP light are connected. It happens when the anti-sink valves first open or more often when they are just on the cusp of closing.

I take it all your accumulators are known good? That's your main accumulator, Activa accumulator and Anti-Sink (rear brake accumulator). All three must be tip-top on an Activa or all sorts of hydraulic 'funnies' can result.

Well I'm giving it plenty of beans so you might be right!

Full block warning lights look better in my opinion, but I got used to them real quickly. As long as the speedometer is working properly [-o<

Well for the main accumulator sphere I know it is spot on 62bar as I have tested it (on my very own sphere tester may I ad 8-) ) for the others I'm not sure... I tried to test the Activa accumulator sphere, but I forgot that I have to release pressure from activa system and wuuuush! made a mess. But I was quick enough to screw the nut back and not much hydrarincage went to the floor.

I was just reviewing some posts from Mandrake and he suggests that it is also possible farting comes from internally leaky electrovalve. Mine front valve is definitely leaking... Now just to find time to swap them from the spare parts Xantia, that I know it has good ones. But when I start digging around the car the time suddenly starts to run faster and 6 hours fly by. Einstein was right. Time is relative. But SWMBO doesn't understand physics if you know what I mean...

I just don't find the time to strip the whole spare Xantia apart. Just taking it's organs when needed. Still drivable though, without the LHM reservoir, anti-sink valve. Belt to pump removed also. Don't want to destroy the pump [-X

I agree. Likely the Power Steering feed pipe or return pipe. If the latter then easy as it'll be just perished rubber. If it's the feed pipe it could be a bit trickier.

Fingers crossed it's the easy one :-D

Yes it was the steering return pipe (again may I ad). 2 hours of work and 40 eur of expense. I changed the return pipe in December and didn't last long. It was a tight fit tough and probably that was the reason why it started leaking. Now I have a really thick gasoline resistant steel reinforced pipe. If this fails then it's really curtains for my Activa

And she lives to fight another day, but really getting on my nerves. Peeing b*****! :grr:

It'll be OK now xantos :-D LHM can eat ordinary rubber pipe very easily but pipe rated for unleaded petrol (gasoline) is fine for LHM.

Pleased it is all fixed again :-D

Well the old pipe was petrol resistant also. In my opinion a combination of to tight fit and hydrarincage made it crumble...
I've checked the other pipes that I have also changed and they seem to be ok. Still soft and not brittle...

Now again a long process of establishing trust...

And here it is! Tecnosir valves and filling "gun"!

Next week I plan to slaughter the other Xantia and also refill my spheres. My Activa needs some more attention as it dripping LHM in the front and at the back. In the front it's probably steering rack collar so jolly nice job repairing it... But I do have a plan! Don't know about the back. I did also buy a set of 6-angle wrenches, special for undoing pipes, so that should help undoing the pipes, without rounding the nut. [-o<
