Really?? These signs are funny as hell. As for the grass is to long, attach a Flymo in front of you to cut it before you run on it. Some people are never happy

I was asked, not sure if serious or not, if I'd take my strimmer around the parkrun course and cut down the worst of it...

This is how the grass generally looked on Friday... Plenty of room to run where it's shortest but not good for overtaking... Barely the width of a dog...

With one patch a little denser...

But as one of our parkrun team said... 'It's a FIELD and the course is a trail course...'

If that's a farmer's field then probably cutting it will result in a shotgun and your team running faster :-D

That electric fence Jim reminded me of when we were in Scotland a few years ago. They had bred some very nice foals at the farm, one in particular Christine (my wife) wanted me to get a photo of but it was never up the end of the field near the cottage. Eventually I went down to the owners house which was where it spent most of its time.

I was leaning on the hedge trying to get near to it and eventually it came over to me, I stretched right over the hedge to touch it when I got a sudden jolt in the chest and a spark leapt from my finger to the poor creatures nose, I had leaned on an electric fence, the poor thing took off and never talked to me again.

  Happily, it's common land Ryan... Sadly, they can't crop it for hay although the grass would be ideal as it's too contaminated with dog poo... The common is a magnet for dog walkers...

I'm always very careful of electric fences when out hiking around the countryside Peter! On that run where I took the photo I had to negotiate several and one I had to lift up with one of my trekking poles so I could scramble underneath it...

Only then did I realise my trekking poles are made of light aluminium

Seen during my run this morning... Nothing special but I do like the flowers at the base of the sign and how this area where the road ends and becomes a footpath is well loved...
20230713_070049.jpg
Years ago the footpath was a track leading to a small quarry. Pre-covid there was still one triangular sign along it warning of a crossroads! Last time I saw it, vegetation had almost fully claimed it... I must put my trail shoes on, take a run along there and see if it's still there...
