I take it you are using a good quality contact cleaner to soak it in?

I said "contact cleaner", not "contact lens cleaner"!

I wonder if soaking in contact lens cleaner with improve the clarity of the audio?

After a few hours of running on the bench the radio continues to work well... Next job will be to reassemble it and see if it still behaves itself...

I doubt it but at least you'll be able to read the labels more clearly!!

The labels in the set were no use anyway Mick, Google searches brought forth no useful service information for the set, just a user's manual...

I has hoping for a service manual but sadly there is no intention for it to be repaired...

No, because the fault was apparent on the bench before I dismantled it Mike...

And another radio works perfectly well in the car...

Nothing to report on the cars!

Suffered a puncture during a bike ride yesterday...

Easily fixed

It was likely caused by a farmer flailing the hedges along a minor road I'd ridden about a mile before the tyre went down...

The flailing job was done very poorly and lumps of hedge were scattered all over the road... No attempt had been made to clear up

Despite that, it did noting to take the shine off what was a very lovely 30 mile tour

On what was a very cold and frosty morning I ran 13.32 miles today, jut over a half marathon, to complete my RED (Run Every Day) January Challenge and to achieve exactly 300 miles ran for the month...

Sadly, Strava told me I only ran 299.96 miles

When I looked at Garmin Connect - the software that connects directly to my Garmin Forerunner GPS watch - it told me I'd actually ran 300.1 miles

I fell victim to Strava's 'rounding down' when it pulls data from Garmin Connect... We call it the 'Strava Tax'

You need spikes on your tyres

The Arctic has moved south I noted a lot icebergs that were previously puddles in the beam of my head torch this morning... Some fleet of foot was needed to safely negotiate some of them!

Despite that it's been a lovely sunny but chilly day here today although in Somerset I hear it's snowing again...

Todays little project: fit a DAB radio adaptor in Daffodil

First job was to install the aerial on the windscreen...

I pulled the A pillar trim off and hid the aerial cable behind it and hid it all the way to the head unit which resides rather neatly on the front wall of the centre console oddment tray...

The power and audio output cables I fed up behind the radio head unit and after cutting a small slot, fed them under the head unit cradle...

The radio head unit very conveniently has a USB socket to supply power to external devices that may be connected to it. Perfect for powering the DAB adaptor

It all works rather well and is about as neat as I think this sort of installation can be, given there is no aux-in socket or USB power on the rear of the head unit...

I know it's not in keeping with Daffodil's age but now I can listen to FM radio, DAB radio and stream Amazon music via Bluetooth

Mixed feelings about this one Jim, a nice neat engineering job BUT I can't go with the "because I can" straying from authenticity on this one. Did Daffodil actually give her consent for this modification?
