I think when we have a reasonable dry day I will check them out , there fine at the moment braking all equal, whoever owned the car before let his or her local take care of it , ive not much service history but from what I have shows things done at the correct intervals which is nice to find, ive taken the 308cc off the road to rest it , this little 207 is great its been going like a little work horse in all weather's, once its up to temperature its nice and cosy in the car its horrible to get out of and be hit by the cold out side

Lot to be said for a decent heater, I had a blocked heater matrix on a previous 306 and driving in coat each winter gets boring!
Always chickened out of the matrix replacement task! (Full dash out job)

Know what you mean about replacing heater matrix its either an easy one or it ain't. First job on my 308cc was to replace its matrix I was lucky , the side center console panel pops out with removal of its clips and there it was (passenger side foorwell) it had an o ring that was leaking , I did purchased a new matrix that came with new o rings it was a thinking of not wanting to do the job twice type of thing , when I got the old one out I was happy I did by a new one as the old one would of sure blown out with a newly fitted o ring , the matrix was almost there to giving up and dumping the coolant into the footwell

Oh and yes definitely spring for the rear brake stuff , I'm getting to old to roll around damp cold concrete, plus the wife would tell me off to , bless her , honest

Always recall a mk 3 escort gear box change in my 20s one boxing dad minus 10 hard haw frost , me and an old mate , dad needed the car back on the road ASAP so we cracked on with it , started at 9 all done by 4 , we had a barbecue lite all day to keep us a bit warm ,we were out side on a double drive way , facing the north downs which was like a proper picture from an old Christmas card , my hands got so cold at one point I couldn't feel the stuff I was touching, my dad was in and out with hot drinks and food most of the day , never forget it , sometimes wish I could go back to that day it wasn't good back then but just to see dad again would be amazing, oh and I'd say to my younger self don't by a car called a c3 picasso when you get older

Speaking of working on cars in the cold... Memorably, doing a Peugeot 405 water pump in the snow... I swapped the cambelt a week or so previously when it was warmer. Did not replace the water pump... Big mistake

That looks a nifty device but still needs a fair amount of physical pumping which is the part I have eliminated with my modified Transit scissor jack. Picture to follow!

I welded a couple of struts from an old ramp across the bottom to stabilise it and added a 1/2" square drive adapter and now I raise and lower it with the impact gun. Works brilliantly although I still use axle stands when necessary but it took away the 'hard' work aspect
