hey Jim. this morning the weather has been dry so I took a good look at the break doseur to try and find the leak, it look as thought the top return pipe is the one that is causing the loss of fluid, I've been reading all the posts about how to try and fix it, and it says the best way is to remove the carpet and the bolts should be either side of the break pedal, the only problem is that the break pedal completely stopped me from getting my wrench to the bolt on the right, I was wondering if the was a trick that you knew off to get to the bolt as I cannot for the life of me see how to undo it, thanks Scott

I haven't had the pleasure yet but have heard most people say that they cut the bolt holding the brake pedal to remove it, then when they replace the bolt they insert it from the other side due to the clearance issues you are encountering .... good luck

To be fair drastic measures wouldn’t surprise me at all, I've been upside down all morning with my head in the footwell just trying anything it really is a peculiar design for sure, if nothing comes to me I could just try and snip the clip to the pipe with it still attached to the car and just work using my hands, thanks for the idea it gives me a option to try.

You might also want to check the clip on the clutch pedal. They have been known to break in the past (especially if it is the older design). I believe (but I do NOT know) that the white/cream clip is the later design.

luckily I've got an automatic, and I get a littlie more room to work with .

Scottculli I believe it's designed that way to stop the bolt falling out and the brake pedal falling off .... I know what I'd rather

I think it may have a nyloc nut on the other end.

To be fair i can't disagree.who do they think they are designing things properly, to try and keep me safe

That bolt has possibly caused more blue air than any other on a Xantia

As an aside, I once did a 1.9TD clutch clip by lying upside-down in the footwell, whilst cursing and struggling with the bolt the driver's door closed on me and I was trapped I had to wait for my girls to come home from school to free me

They found it hilarious and so did I once I extracted myself...

hey everyone i was hoping i could get some advice on the break problem I'm having, for the life of me I cannot see the solution or maybe there's just something simple that I'm missing, but the way to get it out is just is baffling to me. I can see the two 11mm nuts in the footwell the first one is simple enough, but when it comes to the second one I'm trumped, the break pedal stops me from fitting a wrench in there and the strengthen on the side stop me from getting it on a different angle, I was hoping that any of you that had tried this out before what was the procedure you used.
