Re: your views please on Mk1 C5 2.0 Hdi automatics please?
Sorry, just reread my post above. I should have made it clear that the 110 bhp engine has the hoses and intercooler and the 90 bhp doesn't. My apologies.

Re: your views please on Mk1 C5 2.0 Hdi automatics please?
I was most impressed that this car doesn't have springs on the front like the xantia to stop the floaty feeling on the front end.
Thanks Jim for that I shall as you say go for it then. Expect some piccys soon.
I've never had as much as 138bhp beneath my foot and I'm a little nervous to be honest.
I've hired one or two 130bhp cars in the past but they terrified me to I drove them quite slowly.
I shall treat it with. Respect. Besides I need my insurance to drop a bit from £370 a year for this car.
Are there any bits you need for a xantia before she is scrapped? Drives shafts brand new this year so was the clutch and sump.
Headlamps are getting rare now to. You can pick for free Jim being as you helped me out with Parts.
seems so senseless to let new parts go to the scrap yard. the drivers side shaft had to be sent away for by Pleiades
They are not available from GSF or euro car parts because the xantia doesn't have abs.
I would at least like her to live on on spares for someone.
if I could replace her with another good one after 12 years of service I would.
I originally bought her at 6 years old she hasn't done bad at all for an 18 year old Car.
The compressor still runs to, the alternator is only three months old . I believe its a Lucas and it cost me £168.00 all I want is the rear number plate the New battery and maybe the xantia badge of the rear hatch to frame in a photograph, the longest I have ever owned one car and Boy oh boy I have owned a few cars in my time.
I'm very much looking forward to having headlamps that turn as you turn the steering wheel apparently standard on the exclusives, I'm not looking forward to my son
judging me for having parking sensors which he thinks should only be used by idiots.

Excellent Nigel
Nothing I need I can think of right now but offer it far and wide
She deserves a good memorial - she's been a good car to you...
I hope the new one will be as faithful and good....
Remember she won't like veg oil
Looking forward to the pictures of the new steed!

The Xenon Dual Function Directional Headlights are not standard kit on the Exclusives Nigel, they are a factory option, along with LDWS, Leather and the Navidrive system etc., so you may want to check on the specifics of the car you have in mind if thIs is important to you.falling-out-with-my-car wrote: I'm very much looking forward to having headlamps that turn as you turn the steering wheel apparently standard on the exclusives,[

After seeing a Bosch pump seal leak on veg oil Jim only to stop leaking again by adding a tank of diesel to the car I gave it all up three years ago. A chap from London collected all the oil processing kit to make proper biodiesel with it.

OK thanks I read the Citroen review put out by Citroen for the c5 and it ssod these were standard in the 2.0l diesel engined 138bhp exclusive models. Perhaps they milked it and made them optionals later. Yes the media nav is definitely optional a distraction I'd call it. It would be the first thingvto go if it had it I shall be grateful for anything basic in an increasingly computerised world. And now I'm on the wring side of 50.

It is possible Nigel - the specs. did change a bit including in which country you are in - i.e. in Australia one brochure lists these as standard only on the 3.0 V6 and optional on other models. If you want a quick spec. check on a model, just let me have the reg no and I should be able to pull off the spec for you quickly.

Things drop off the "standard" spec and move onto the "option" list as time goes by.

Re: your views please on Mk1 C5 2.0 Hdi automatics please?
Well after all that a kindly family member has stepped in and raised the funding substantially to six grand. So unfortunately my 2cv will now be the only Citroen I shall own
I've wanted a Dacia Duster 1.5 DCI since they first entered the UK market so that is what I am going for. If I get my hands on a 2013 model it wont have dpf as it was not introduced into the dacia range until 2015
Don't worry Jim its still technically got a French Engine. I'm still doing my bit for the forum I don't. Suppose that will ever change. Thank you to everyone who helped with advice here its more about having something that doesn't demand to much attention in maintenance and in that respect the xantia really stung my tail in the past three years or so. Insurance costs play a big part to I didn't realise how fast the bhp of diesel engines was rising. It has really caught me out looking at any replacement cars. My xantia was very nippy for a 90bhp car. Perhaps one day I'll revisit ownning a hydraulic suspension car I was and have always been impressed with the breaking which has now been replaced with a servo system why did you do that Citroen? I liked the old lhm pump brakes because it took so liitle effort to brake with painfully disabled legs. I have been looking for c5 s on the road lately and can honestly say I haven't seen any around my area. Perhaps they are np longer distinctive enough to dtand out amongst the othe ordinary cars. So if they are that unpopular I think it might be time to move on to something a little different for a change. Thanks again everyone. Your help as always is very much appreciated. Regards. Nigel. PS sorry to let you down everyone. I shall always have a special place in my heart and memories for the Citroens I have owned in the past. Especially my BXs and xantia estate.
