What is the highest mileage Xantia on the forum I wonder ?

Just thought I would add my Xantia to this list before I send it to the scrappy. Its a P reg 1.9 TD estate and just passing 330,000. It only had 74,000 on when I purchased it in 2002. On the whole its been the most reliable car I have owned, only failures being two clutch clips and 1 clutch cable. Still on its original injectors, turbo, Lucas injection pump, coolant pump drive shafts, turbo and CLUTCH!! Will still pass the speed limit and returns 43 - 45 mpg. But alas the front suspension is shot from to many pot holes and the cooling fans have both given up the ghost so guess its time to scrap it Its a real shame as the engine still sounds the same as when I got it, running till the MOT expires at the end of the month so time to get another 1000 or so on the clock!

spheres? Or all the ball joint on the front too?

Seems small things for the need to give up after such sterling service!

Yes I know its a shame but reckon it needs ball joints and at least one lower arm, also front tyres are borderline and rad leaks! Been going to let it go for the past 4 years! The biggest problem is that the MOT is end of February, the least nicest month to be working on a car outside.

Surely there cant be many Lucas TD Xantia's around either, most are Bosche IIRC and only the NA engine got the lucas...

my HDi is on 172k and still drives like new and sounds perfect

To update this, the HDi is now on 241k and still drives like new and sounds perfect.

Its a PITA to be honest, you NEVER know when the bloody thing is gonna happen, which is NOT fun AT ALL...

My HDi is on 197k now. Doesn't use a drop of oil, which is changed every six months, and is as reliable as a daily driver has to be. She did 100k as a reps car in the first four years, then a bloke bought her and took her up to 146k before driving her into a scrappies as he had got a Mobility car. I bought her unseen for £250, replaced the windscreen and the sump, which the numpties in the scrap yard had used to jack her up, and seven years later wouldn't swap her.

She's had her fair share of work done, but nothing out of the ordinary - all six spheres, pads and disks, cat, rear height corrector and the dreaded heater matrix, but in 2012 I made the decision to spend money on her and keep her for good. Brand new LuK clutch, ball joints, track rod ends and bottom pulley should see another ten years out of her. Last year all I did was have the air con flushed and re-gassed.
