Well the old principle is being revived, and the subject of the "Electrical Vehicles Infrastructure thread" this morning
The Bath to Devizes Stage Coach pulls up in a village for a change of horses. Painted in 1892 by Alfred Wheeler (1821-1903).

Looking at possible clues....how about this one!
Not an everyday spot in the UK. Quite a rarity.
