Still waiting on an answer to Humber Gibbo but thinking about it we haven't actually suggested Rover prior to the P4? :-D

Now there's a thought Eric.. One of the sporty Imps would be great and definitely one of the more sporty members of the Rootes Arrow family :-D

Or perhaps it's one of Luton's former finest? I could see you cruising around quite happily in a PA Cresta Zel... Or even a VX4/90 or Victor :)

Or even one of these...

Apart from it being a Vauxhall, I can't recall now the model... It looked very regal in deep gloss black...

It's a 1940 Grosvenor Limo Jim.

Ahh thanks Eric 😊 I thought you'd know 😉 I looked up its DVLA record but it only told me it was a 1940 3.2 litre Vauxhall registered in 1986. I assume the plate is age-related rather than original.

A proper limo 😎

All interesting options, but so far none correct. I feel like there may be some assumptions at play here which are leading you all astray...

A Citroen Traction Avant?

Maybe we should narrow down the country of manufacture?

I did actually stumble across a project 900 that tempted me yesterday - but saw sense. That while a bargain and completely rust free needed completely recommissioning and I just don't have the time for that.

I do like me a Jowett, but nope.

It's a British car, that much I'm giving you.

A summary of what we know: British, not Austin, Morris or MG, Not Vauxhall or Ford, Not Jowett or I think Morgan we can assume, Bigger than Riley Kestrel, Not Jag Mk1, but engine around 2.4litres ish, Not a Humber but no clarity as to Hillman or Singer. Triumph not completely dismissed although 2.5PI was. So that leads me to think now extinct maker from the midlands or north with largish engines, TVR? :-D

British, early 60s, around two and half litre, and nothing that's been suggested yet. Mick has had a good thought though...
