Hello,
I hope you don't mind me resurecting this thread instead starting a new.
After fixing the DPF issue the car came up with a new problem, P0606 powersteering failure. True enough, the steering is now harder than on a car without powersteering. Before I start pulling at things is there a "it is usually..." for this?

Re: Power steering failure
Not without knowing the exact system you have, so we'll need the VIN first. Please post your VIN in full without spaces - it will be automatically masked from public view after submitting your post & will only be visible to staff.

VIN VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]
I was thinking, but not writing, with regards to the table on page four. The Diagbox report says: P0606 Internal control unit fault. So basicly Im wondering if this usually means that the ECU is shot or if it is unhappy with the battery or something inbetween.

Re: Power steering failure
Ok, so I need to clarify the conditions of the fault appearance first of all.
1) Are you getting a message "Power Steering Fault' on the Multifunction screen?
2) Does the message come on immediately after sharp braking? If so, after switching the ignition off and back on again, does the message then disappear?
If both these conditions are true and you have the P0606 fault code, then the resolution is to have the Power Steering ECU's software updated.

No, engine on and it is there at stand still. It is an automatic so the brake is pressed when starting, which might be true for all cars these days.GiveMeABreak wrote: 08 Nov 2024, 11:55 2) Does the message come on immediately after sharp braking? It happened out of the blue, up until now there has neven been a problem with the steering. Drove to the shops, came back out and *poof* power steering gone. An earlier post mentioned cold wather and sure it is getting colder but we have used the car in much colder weather.
Update: Just to jinx things the car is OK again. I thought there might be a fuse. Checked manual, found fuse, concluded that the included fuse tool is useless, got fuse out eventually, it was OK. Reseated fuse, started car and... fault gone! For now...
