Re: LDS Tank Bursting Warning Labels
Just a correction to my post of 19sep24. The clip-on balancing weight was fouling the handbrake cable guide bracket, not a brake pipe bracket.

LDS Tank Bursting Risk - poor MOT experience
Recently, I took my 2001 C5 for an MOT at a place I had not tried before, the Grantham branch of a company called "We only do MOTs". I always book the first slot of the day, in this case 0800, and turn up early to brief the inspector on the actions to avoid bursting the LDS hydraulics reservoir. However, the inspector was not interested in the slightest. He would not listen to me, he would not look at the written brief, and said things like "Ive done thousands of MOTs", "its just a car", and "you are delaying me, I only have 40minutes to do an MOT". When he begrudgingly watched me demonstrate unscrewing the reservoir cap, he immediately said "I am not allowed to remove caps". In the end, I told him I had no confidence in him and drove the car away. Regarding using up his time, I noted I pulled away at 0757 so my MOT slot had not even started. Much of the conversation was recorded on my dashcam. I do not know what VSI (vehicle specific information) is on the system, but he drove the car and started the inspection before even looking (logging on).
I drove immediately to Halfords down the same road, and booked an MOT for 2 days later. Their inspector could not have been more interested . Even the young mechanic in reception was fascinated by the suspension going up and down...he had not seen the like. I felt soooo old (!!) and it passed the MOT.

I'd give them a wide berth, he is obviously incompetent and the attitude sucks. You have a choice and made the right decision to go elsewhere. If anything had happened, he would of denied he was the cause.
Please note, I'm no longer active on the Forum, so won't respond to messages.

Re: LDS Tank Bursting Warning Labels
I "resolved" MOT problem with a separate MOT cap:
I removed the rubber flap, and drilled six 5 mm(?) holes to the cap.
Not sure about the drill size (dont remember), but when you remove the rubber flap, you can see good places for the holes from the inside of the cap.
So now when parked at MOT, I just change the cap to the holy one, let them do the MOT, and then change the cap back to normal cap.
