How very strange, and they were definitely working when you looked at the car before buying... I don't suppose it happened to get vandalised/mirrors kicked off the night before you collected and the seller didn't tell you but rushed replacing the mirrors while you were en-route, in case it put you off the deal? Only logical explanation I can think of

That's completely odd and suggests they have been disconnected - talk about gremlins in the machine! One plug maybe, but on both sides? I'm now wondering if there have been split cables in the past with the previous owner, and these have been joined back together, and in the process shortening the cable, thus pulling them beyond their length when the door is opened fully??

Yes weird, they definitely worked on the test drive. Any clues on how to remove the mirror cover?
