I can explain the mirror (as I had one on my Skoda Octavia, and now my C5 has one). There are a pair of photoelectric sensors, an LED, and the switch. One of the sensors is on the windscreen side of the mirror, and measures the ambient light levels, while the other is on the mirror side, and measures the 'incoming' light levels. If there is a major difference between the ambient and incoming levels, the mirror adjusts the level of tinting. Very simple electronics (all it needs is power from the car, as mind did).
It looks very like yours is also a smart mirror.
