Seizing caliper being slow to release was boiling the fluid. I found out approaching a line of stationary traffic. Judicious use of the handbrake, ramming it into 1st geat and rubbing the nearside wheels along the kerb avoided disaster.

At the moment the car is all good APART from the brakes.There is no either or.I have had my share of running in circles like a headless chicken trying to do a days work and fix the car.I want to find the solution and fix em, job done .Trial and error is a waste of time and leaves you with a pile of parts only fit for the bin.

i dont remember is there a bleed nipple on the dosour valve on the XANT?????, the reason i dont remember is as i have never had to bleed from this point yet on a XANT,
but have once in a blue moon dont so on the likes of the BX, which does have a nipple there,
maybe you need another pair of green blood shot eyes to look at it, as you might be overlooking the obvious

Exactly what I am thinking.When I bled the brakes I got a small whoosh from the offside rear nipple. I cant say they feel 100% yet but they do SEEM slightly better.I have not seen anything in the book or even heard of this valve but maybe there is an airlock somewhere but no delay in the brakes.If I hit them anything not screwed down ends up against the front windscreen. My question now is ,would air in the rear affect the front.Trouble is I don't want to settle for 75%

the dosour valve is the hydraulic citroens equivalent to a master cylinder on a conventionally braked car,
so its bolted to the bulkhead in the engine bay behind the brake pedal

You can start by checking the condition of the brake pads. Fronts first and then rear ones.
Front:
- Check if both pads have about same thickness remaining,
- Traces of any unusual carving, grooves formed on the disk
- Is the caliper sliding easily. If not some brake grease under the seal.

Rear:
- In addition to above first two items, check if the top parts of the brake pads are touching each other.
The pads might be carved like a profile of upside down "L" letter. This happened once with mine.

Finally brake bleeding would do fine, especially the rear dead ends will be free of air bubbles.
