Would this cause a rattling? Does it get worse with the car in high?
Chris, It's fine when I have it in normal and give it about 2 minutes and then nothing, It's back to normal, I think that the level of LDS is falling back somehow, I need a day off to invstigate it.

8-Track. Ohh, that brings back memories.

I used to spend Saturday mornings untangling and re-threading 8-Track cartridges when I was a lad working in our local TV and Radio shop...

The resident TV service engineer had a Radiomobile quadraphonic 8-Track (4-Track?) in his Fraud Zeypher and on which he introduced me to the heady delights of Pink Floyd, Deep Purple and Focus amongst others 8-)

In his TV Service van (a Fraud Escort) he had the latest and greatest of the time. The very first auto-reverse car cassette player made by Pye :)

8-Track cartridges were pretty cool and neat in those days.

Never heard one though. Can't imagine them being much good and IIRC they only played 45s.

Yes, I do funnily enough, I remember my sister (who was some 10 years my elder) had a flashy Greek boyfriend at the time who had some flash car, A Poxhall Cresta I think, and that had a record player in it. As far as I recall it played 7" 45rpm singles and you popped them in a slot much like a CD today.. That would have been about 1968 as far as I can recall.

Sadly, that was before I was into such things in a technical sense and I've never seen one since or had any opportunity to pull one to bits and see how they worked.

I fancy I was pretty impressed with it. Certainly more impressed than I was with the the car or the boyfriend :)

Ay up!

Record players were on the option list for Lincolns. Cadillacs and, I believe, some Mercury cars in the late '50s and were certainly specified by Elvis and Marilyn Monroe.

Never heard of 'em this side though. Interesting. I do hope that Cresta was a PA!

If memory serves, they had a powerful spring or weight to keep the needle in the groove, which normally resulted in premature record failures as it gouged it's way through them!
