V6 Xantia......... the beginning of another adventure

Just had a weird idea, just wondering if it's worth putting the jump start pack on first, that is strong enough to start the C6, so I'm thinking that if it's still the same, then it rules out the battery..... or am I barking up the wrong tree?

Its worth it as a shot Steve as it would give it a good few extra CCA's to maybe kick it over a bit quicker if it was the battery. Ideally as well you would want a voltmeter over the battery terminals before and during cranking to see if they really drop down much.

I've done the mod twice now and on an S1 Xantia I took the feed from the unused headlight washer fuse and on the S2 XM I took it straight from the battery...

One other place where there can be a problem is the brown in-line plug that sits on the side of the aircon pump with a single white wire - that's the final bit of the feed to the starter solenoid. It gets covered in crud and can corrode and present a high resistance. Chop it out and connect the two white wires together with a splice if the plug and socket looks at all dodgy...

1. Try the bump pack.
2. Disconnect the mod.
3. Try the battery again.
4. Rewire the mod.
5. New battery.

At least that's the way I see it for now...

I suspect there could well be an element of truth in there James, although SWMBO will be at work out of the way.

Well, I've been having a play this morning, I connected the battery pack this morning and she fired up like never before. I'm pleased to say......

So now I know what the problem is, I can look around for a new battery, I think I'm going to have a look at how big an AH battery I can find to fit the battery square.

It's the best size I think for a xantia as it isn't so big it's a job to get it in but is big enough to just a nice fit and powerful

Well, she decided to have a play again today, gearbox wouldn't change, thankfully. Was only round the corner, managed to get home, disconnect the battery for a couple of hours, and she's back working again........

I really must sort out getting the switch I have access to over here and get it replaced.....
