I've been known to decipher virtually undecipherable text on signs on old photos before. My 'skill' has been used by a few friends when doing research projects - the benefit being that, even if I'm wrong, they can't prove otherwise

The engines of the search have so far failed me.

I don't recognise that pattern at all, the pot shape is similar to a Royal Staffordshire set I saw but the pattern is alien to me!

As you know I don't have the benefit of google translate but if you have you may have some luck finding this set on:

I came across the site by drilling down into a picture of a similarly shaped pot. There are only 264 pages to look through!!

Would it be Scandinavian in origin ? If it is, then I've got naff-all chance of working out the text

The first line of the text looks like it could be B.E. Sxxxxxxxx

Where's our Steve? He's achieved just about the prefect blur for the bottom of that cup

I did one of those invert colours so the text was in white and the background black seemed to make it tantalisingly clearer, but no nearer making out the words

When I restored the coffee set to the cabinet I did try and read the bottom of the cup and failed.
Scandinavian was a good guess but it is West German, all I could read. May take a photo and blow it up see if it becomes decipherable.
