I'm not sure when I will be going up to my mate's next. Wish I'd have seen your post as I think I've been up in the last month. Life's a complete blur at the moment. I went up to fit a brake hose on my Smart ForFour.

Anyway, I've no idea when I can get up there next. I'll make a note of the RPO and dig out the wiring diagrams when I next go up. You'll have to remind me. Is the non-start still an issue? If so, I would dig out the starting circuit information. Perhaps better if you tell me what you need now and I will try and decipher which other diagrams you may need.

Starting is still an issue. Unless I use easy start she doesn't start. Sometimes, when she's warm she'll start after 2 or 3 tries. I was beginning to think I'd got a handle on it as she'd run for an hour no problem with only a little bit of hunting on start.. so I was confident on using her to go to the nearest town 6 miles away and allowing my wife to do some shopping whilst I kept the car running. But 2 weeks ago I was going in to get some wood and she stopped on me.. just driving along..cut out.. twice after about 2 miles driving each.. so I managed to start her with easy start both times and I returned home.. and guess what? She was fine.
I haven't been able to try the fuel filter as the one i got sent was incorrect.. the new one is ordered, but hasn't arrived.
I'm wondering if it's possible the timing belt might have slipped one notch as when I was stopped by the side if the road... she didn't want to turn over.. as if the battery was flat.. for the first turn.. when the resistance was overcome..she'd tun over normally.. that happened twice. She's in the garage now and with the tax running out at the end of the month, and we're babysitting in High Wycombe for the next couple of weeks. It doesn't look as though I'll get much time to get her running properly before next spring.
I really don't think it's electrical.. but it might just be one of those intermittent problems?

Thanks, but I now think its a fuel supply issue. I emptied the fuel tank and found a little water sitting at the bottom of it. I also removed the fuel pump from its container and cleaned out lots of crap from the fuel filter at the bottom. After replacing it all, the first start went fine, but the following starts all took a bit of cranking, perhaps 30 to 40 secs in 10 second cranks.
My next attempt will be swapping out Vs pump and see if that makes a difference.

It would be worth checking the timing by locking off the flywheel and making sure the camshaft pins out OK and that the belt hasn't jumped a tooth. Fuel pump on RHY/RHZ engine doesn't matter as ECU controls that side of things.
