Thats correct, it seperate battery or battery on board but it doesn’t matter which you use as they are interchangeable as long as correct frequency type

I just meant to confirm the 0536 bit, and Wheeler is of course correct it's not the Chip ID. I've been rushing through replies today as over 100 posts to get through since yesterday.

Managed to break the lock microswitch on my remote key, trying to order replacement online, seems the key is HU83 / CE0536.
Could I please get some help with key fob part number, whether its PCF7961 and also do I need ASK or FSK for this VIN - VF3**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]

Hi, I'm new to this forum, and Citroën in general, but finally I've bought one.
I was browsing and found this thread, as I have the same issue - needing a programmable spare key/fob for my car - but I'm unsure about the specs.
I'm pretty sure the key blade is a HCA/HU83 blade and the "case" is a 0523 (it's stamped on it). Now the fun starts... is it ASK or FSK? MHz? ID46 chip? PCF79xxx?
There are a lot of different numbers on the components inside of the fob, but I can't figure out how they can help me. Maybe the number on a chip inside can be of help? "NXP E33L61D". On the circuit board it's printed "E25CI009".
The VIN is: VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]
I would be very thankful for any input that can help me further.
