Still works. If you look under config, I've forgotten, either in the BSI or ESP section, there is an option than can be turned on or off whereby the throttle or brakes are applied for 2 secs automatically to keep the car from rolling back when on an incline. Still works. That system is not dependant on the parking brake.
I think if your original car came with an EPB with the in car plastic emergency release, you have no choice but to get the same design for the BSI to recognise it. The newer ones without, even original I feel, will not work.
Looking forwards, this workaround probably the easiest way to get the new designed parking brake to work with cars fitted with the older EPB. Well that's my theory.

Re: Second-hand Electric stationery brake not recognised
Thanks for you explanation of how the hill-holder works (I'm not so technician and I've only noticed that when the EPB shows all the errors/fault the hill-holder doesn't work anymore so I suppose the the hill-holder function was linked with the EPB)
My car has the plastic emergency release handle (the yellow one) in the arm-rest inside the car so I suppose the only solution is your solution.

I think so. So far all is working well. Parkbrake works all the time, and no parkbrake fault / anti rollback error. It's such a relief.

The BSI is not a controlling ECU for the parking brake - that is all done by the ESP ECU and the EPB ECU.

Re: Second-hand Electric stationery brake not recognised
Interstiting. Since disabling the parking brake from the list of present ECU in the config for BSI, I have no more parking brake fault/ anti rollback error, and this is confirmed by running the global test. So far no faults in BSI.
However, despite removing the parking brake ECU from the list, diagbox is still picking up the presence of the parking brake ECU, and still with the same list of fault codes (purely communication errors).
My parking brake continue to work.
Most recently, I have tinkered with the disabling of the hill start option as it was still flagging a communication fault with eh EPB ECU.
So far so good. But I have not run a global test since then.
If I can't have communication ever between ESP ECU and parking brake, as long as it functions like a regular parking brake (sans the hillstart, anti-hijacking mode, emergency braking) I think I'm ok. They stop working anyway when the parking brake fault comes on.
My final project would be to hook it up to a diagbox with servicebox subscription to see if online downloading allows for telecoding the EPB ECU so that it would be recognized by both the ESP and BSI. Iits a long shot, but the best solution short of getting a genuine new or second hand EPB (not so easy to get here in KL).
