I finally made a decision about the exhaust and due to a few jobs needing to be done on the doblo I've decided on a mild steel one , the cars booked in on Saturday morning so will be ready for Wetherby on Sunday , the full system is £150 fitted so not too bad . A good clean on Saturday night should see her ready for Sunday .

Think I got lucky with the exhaust on mine - looks 6 months old but is actually 5 years old - receipt for £354 :-D

The exhaust is now done on the Zx and it's sounding lovely , the exhaust specialisthad to repair part of the catalyst pipe in stainless , what a difference .

I'll try and get some pics took tomorrow , the throttle response is lots better and the car has never run better in the 2 1/2 yrs I've had it . The back box is quite a bit bigger than the old one and a totally different shape . The exhaust specialist said they had a job locating a system for the Zx16v and it was the only one left at their supplier .

Aye - certainly a different shape to mine - thanks for the test drive - power felt similar to mine - trouble is i think im used to a large amount of torque in my Rover 2.0 TD 25 van and my now sold 406 v6 coupe - which left me wondering about the ZX - the power is just delivered in a different way - i think we both need to look at the ACAV systems though with mine working on one side and yours not at all (maybe) - gonna get that diaphragm changed then see how it goes from there but this week gonna check plugs , air filter etc and flush cooling system and change thermostat cos yours runs a lower lower than mine, love those leather seats, cheers - Martyn.

I left today thinking theres another Activa to be had in my life after seeing yours - Chris - and seeing that MK2 one for sale - disappointing not to see 1 BX gti or 16v there today - shows how thin on the ground they are up north !! Love the Zx 16v in green like 8-)

The Zx is now doing my daily run to work , not far but any reason to use it is good in my book . The doblo is sidelined as that requires an oil & filter change and plugging in to reset the dpf flipping counter gubbins ( why oh why ) .

Not really Zx related but I dropped the doblo off at the garage this afternoon , the mechanic had a quick look over it and said there maybe an issue with the dpf as the oil level was above maximum and pretty thin , there going to change the oil & filter tommorrow and hopefully reset the service light and dpf counter , next is to get the issue with the egr sorted , though the mechanic said it maybe ok and linked to the dpf issue ?!?! When it's sorted it's goodbye and I'll either be going to an older pre-dpf diesel or possible a new petrol , a very shockingly affordable one . I'll be glad to see the back of this after spending around £1000 in the year I've had it , I've spent way less on cars with nearly triple the mileage this has done 57k now and bought at 51k , a great vehicle spoilt by the dpf in my book #-o .

Well the oil & filter has been done on the Doblo , the oil service light has been reset and it's stayed off , the DPF is 72% blocked so it looks like a good blast on the motorway is needed . Next job is to have the egr valve replaced as this is stuck shut and causing the eml light to stay on (runs like a dream) , then it's MoT time and get an ad in the autotrader for it . My plan is to use the Zx until September then look at getting something for over the winter then , or maybe even a longer term keeper ?

I ma not knocking the XM (as I never have had one), but if you get a good one you will probably end up only using it during the summer as well. Get a Xantia HDi instead, or (if finances will permit) as well.
