Err Gents, which one ?xantia_v6:
On thé non-activa version, the return connector can be reached by jacking up the car a little, removing the subframe bolts on one side and gently lowering the subframe.
If the plastic pipe is popping out of a rubber connector, put a small cable tie around the joint to increase the friction.
Awwww.....Crap, that will be a PITA here with the limitations of the ground I am on.
I take it is a depressurise job and both wheels off ?
Disconnect the Dog Bone ?
How is the Book of Lies for this job ?, follow the "removal" section ?

Re: shortly to become an Activa owner...Project Stictiva
Well I got some lighting in, a couple of tools to move some wires and this is what I see....
Sitting behind the valve is this 4 way connector

With a Split in the top arm/socket of the connector itself No 13 below, more of a crack really as it looks hard, brittle and old by its brown colour.
Part No 13.....NFP !....so WTFH do I do now (? a link to a seller maybe)....any reason I cannot use a PAIR of Y connectors then feed these to a single Y connector ?

Re: shortly to become an Activa owner...Project Stictiva
They do seem to be failing quite often now Sticky and finding a replacement is getting a bit tricky as it's pretty much unique...
One must start to think of an alternative way of coupling the four pipes in question...
I've wondered about a lump of soft (but LHM resistant) plastic suitably drilled to take the pipes roughly in the style of the original... It's a case of finding some suitable material as not everything is adequately LHM resistant. Some stuff rapidly goes hard and other stuff rots very quickly.

Re: shortly to become an Activa owner...Project Stictiva
Well I think (?) I will get access with only one side of the sub-frame dropped...I will wait and see...
I have inspected the scrapper Activa and the same unit is both fitted and looks in good order.....so I have decided to be brutal in the morning and cut a hole in the boot
BUT, I will measure and investigate for a neat modification to the boot floor in the V6 Activa to allow access to both sides via cut inspection holes..................this should be fun.
I see NO REASON why not to do this in the same way I see NO REASON to put a connector in a place impossible to get too (Class A stupid).
This will render the car static, not what I wanted but beggars and all that. I will move the car into the garage for more stripping next week.
So, the Green Goblin will be off to the crusher next week...............to be honest it will be good to get rid I NEED the space and next door will not have a scrap car parked there for long even if it is a good door stop/blocker
.
Will it be OK to leave the drain back tubes blocked up when the car is not running ?

Re: shortly to become an Activa owner...Project Stictiva
Cheers Jim (again
)
I will measure up with care with the aim of cutting out and making a bolt in inspection cover for my car from the scrap car floor. The angles of the pressing will even match and minimal work needed in side the V6 . A good flexible sealant around it and painted/undersealed, good to go with no visible modifications.
I find the placement of this item/joint one of the most ridiculous thinks I have seen for some time and in need of either changing of having access granted. As a bonus access to the other connections should also be improved.....you can bet with good odds that as soon as I fix this, a week later there will be another reason to go in there again

I was thinking about the access plugs like the ones for the fuel pump in the tank but I guess you'll want a little more strength in that region - daft buggers putting it there

Watch the Customs and Excise faces light up when they see that concealment compartment you've made
They'll never believe you when you tell them what's in there

Gosh
That's made life so much easier.. If you need to get the ram pipes off it's a heck of a job normally but from there it's a doddle..
You need to make a template available to all us Activa owners now so we know exactly where to cut...
What did you use to make the cuts?

I like the larger one. It's not that much bigger and might save skinned knuckles.

The right-hand 2/3rds of A for me as it gives useful access to the electrovalve too...
