Mick.

Send me RPO number via PM please because the wiring diagrams split at RPO 11524 for your vehicle. RPO 11525 is later ECU and wiring potentially.

P1693 is also Turbocharger solenoid fault and NOT immobiliser according to the information I can see but like you when I type it into the internet in general it states immobiliser fault.

So today I got a so called auto electrician round to try and start the van . I told them about the fault codes and that I'd had another mechanic to diagnose the problem. Unbelievable but they went down the same road without testing any wires physically ,used a scanner the same as I have done and a mobile mechanic has done and reckon there are no electrical issues . FFS is there nobody who can do the job they are paid for these days ?.
One says electric fault and the sparks says mechanical ! Chuckle Brothers from Who can fix my car . Ready now to scrap it !

So tried again today with brake cleaner. Runs albeit strangely and pressure builds 0 to 76 then drops.off again and stalls. I moved and checked some wires and now the comms fault codes have gone ?. Checked battery and when charged and cranking it drops to just below 11volts . Although cranking well enough would this low voltage stop the Injjectors from coming alive and fuel pump to start pumping good pressure?. 👍 any ideas ?.

I was all ready to help out last week but not heard back from you on RPO. Could have got you the wiring diagrams. I had them up in my mate’s system.

Then yesterday I see you are on about scrapping it. At that point, I’ve decided to give up too. Not worth me taking the time to advise if you are that likely to give up so easily. Scrap it and move on.

Sorry! That’s the first time I’ve ever advised anyone to scrap a Citroen.

Measuring voltage when cranking is not relevant. If you’re fully charged then unless you have heavily corroded starter terminals it’s unlikely to be that.

Vehicle needs to turning over fast and the pressure should build to 260+ bar.

Watch some ScannerDanner videos to learn some bits about starter motors and diagnostics if you really want to save the van.

No-one else has really commented since so I guess they feel might feel the same.

You have to scratch your own head and do some in depth searching on the forum.

Maybe I’m being a bit harsh but when people give up their limited free time to answer it’s not great to then see a brand new member just give up.

This forum is full of knowledgeable people but if you don’t help them to help you were all fighting a losing battle.

Were the comms fault codes there before you waggled the wires or did the last diagnostic technician clear them? Things like this. You’re not providing enough information.

If they were there and then weren’t after you waggled some wires then that suggests wiring issues in that part of the loom.

Hi , sorry I was just venting my frustration when I talked about scrapping the van . I did pm the rpo and vin on the day you mentioned it but maybe they didn't get to you . I do appreciate all the help and time people take on these forums . I have been putting a massive amount of time into this problem since early March and have searched and read everything available to me . I mentioned the battery being a potential problem because I read that on some diesels particularly the vw 1.9tdi that they can be affected by this . It was just another point that I could check .

Nothing received.

Only one ever received and that was the reg hence when pumping that into mate’s system is came up with the two options split at the RPO.

Sorry but I only make fleeting visits to the forum and note that I still didn't receive an RPO number so I am going you have now scrapped the vehicle anyway.

Not sure if I explained at the time because I was fairly time poor when I was trying to assist but my mate's system specifically showed different information and diagrams at a particular RPO number which is why I needed that information to help you.

Never mind.

Update problem found !
Decided to check fuel pump as i had a pump available. Although the pump appeared to be functioning correctly before injector swap.
The exhaust camshaft had broken up at the pump end and pump drive attachment was worn and damaged .
The pump had failed before or during this as the pump drive could be turned easily by hand when removed . Pump was still supplying a very small amount of fuel to pipes from the 20% of cam drive remaining on camshaft . I have decided to replace engine now and replace the exhaust cam at a later date . Wish I had removed the pump monthsvago now . Thanks to everyone for there input 👍

Are you referring to the injection pump?

If your fuel filter is intact then you shouldn’t need to be thinking about an engine replacement but then you also refer to the exhaust camshaft?

There is no exhaust in the injection pump so presumably you mean the engine camshaft.

The pump drives off the timing belt. A worn cam lobe would not change fuel injection pump output.

Perhaps I am misreading what you are trying to say.

You less you mean the woodruff key in the exhaust camshaft had worn and perhaps the belt had slipped a tooth?

Thought the engine only has one camshaft so hasn’t got separate inlet and exhaust cams.

I winder if he ever solved the problem? I've been searching the forum.to see if anyone has an answer for me.
W was on loan last week and after a day of sittiing refused to start.. cranked fine, tank pump humms away nicely. The AA man was called and his diagnostics said fuel pump..but he got the car started and running withe easy start. My friend started thr drive home, with the AA man following and a couple of miles later on a hill the engine died. They trucked the car back to.my.house where it started on easy start and it was garaged.
I've been away, returning tonight, just wondered what your thoughts are? Crank position sensor? Engjne fuel.pump? Fuse? Luckily I've still got V on the drive so I can swap bits around. Ive now got to boot up.my old laptop and load lexia on to it and see if I can find a better answer than.the AA Mans computer .
I.had this happen once before on V.. only.once after refuelling . The AA man starter her with easy start and thr fault never happened again .
All advice gratefully received.
Thanks
Chris

Definitely worth firing the Lexia up and seeing what codes, if any, it produces.

When you wonder if he got it sorted, who are you referring to mick c?

He does say it is sorted but deciphering what he was saying was challenging and he has not answered my previous message.

I’m sure I’ve listed out all the checks on the forum somewhere.

I have most of the genuine Xantia factory workshop manuals. Let me know your RPO and I can dig out any wiring diagrams you may need.

Get the battery fully charged and update symptoms ie crank no start, crank fires stops or whatever they may be. Naturally without easy start for now. I can then look through diagnostics without any Lexia data as there may or may not be some codes and if you do have codes that will help us to home in on what specifically needs looking at. Otherwise, checking all sensors etc manually is a long task.

Do you know how to load test wiring to see if it can carry current? If not, YouTube can guide you.

I have an old Dyson mains cable which I’ve put crocodile clips on to provide power wherever I need it. Because I use the battery, I disconnect any loads eg sensors, actuators or whatever so they cannot be damaged. This allows me to test the integrity of the wiring. I use an H4 bulb which is a bit risky because it is a big load but I only apply it momentarily to see if it lights up bright.

Better to use a smaller 5W or 21W bulb.

I do also have a proper test lamp of Amazon. Only about £7 which has a small bulb on it. Much safer and doesn’t risk burning any wiring out of you make a mistake. ALWAYS best to be safe though and disconnect.

A small update. Lexia came up with a few problems.. I took photos and cleared the faults. No more returned. Now I can start the car (from cold) with Easy Start and she will run as normal and will rev freely.. But once stopped it takes perhaps 3 prods at the starter before she starts. I'm thinking its fuel, maybe a fuel blockage in the filter? So there's a replacement fuel filter on its way.. fingers crossed its that simple.

Having had a few days of running the car..I'm wondering if it might be the timing belt having slipped a notch ?
I know the batterys weak , but it normally turns the engine over no.problem .. but on 2 occasions last week after the engine died whilst out on a run. There was a mettalic clatter and the engine was reluctant to turn over as if there was more compression than normal. The battery over came this and the car started with the aid of easy start. I've now got the fuel filter and will replace tomorow..but I think ill leave it there for now.. there are too many other things demanding attention befoire the weather turns. For sure there'll be new Lexis faults to look at in a few weeks.
