Another quick update, in addition to the cement repair and painting, I have just bought 80 x 50cm square carpet tiles for £20 which I collect later today. Negotiations have been going on as I watch qualifying!! :-D

Do you really need to be qualified to lay carpet tiles Mick?

The steel plate is now laying over the manhole purely to better support the carpet tiles which I am collecting in a couple of hours!!

Hopefully it will be dry tomorrow so I can get on with prepping the floor although the cement won't be here until Monday. :-D

Painting floors is easier with a roller on a broomshaft.
Just pour the paint out and spread it around.

If I had a suitable roller I probably would Steve but I buried all my painting kit at the back of the tent so cheaper to buy the brushes than a decent size roller. I probably will strap the 3" one to a pole :-D

I like that Alasdair thanks, I have one on a 2m extendable pole too so that's my best option so far. I have to repair some concrete damage first but hopefully painting could be on the cards by Tuesday!! :-D

Ever since I ran my garage business I've been getting catalogues from this company.

Thanks Gibbo, that looks like a decent range but far too good for my garage. I will be 'floating postfix' over the rough concrete simply to flatten it, then painting with Johnson's Floor Paint which I have in stock and finally laying the superb carpet tiles I collected yesterday which I am exceptionally pleased with. Watch this space!! :-D

Instead of postfix, worth getting proper self leveling compound instead Mick?
It's not super expensive from memory, I put some down on our kitchen floor
