There's no way to calibrate them, they either work or not.
By 'correlation' I mean: the ECU is looking for rotation at both crank and cam and it compares the two/looks to see they are rotating at the right speeds and it sees the 'notches' (e.g. at tdc) at the right timing together. If it doesn't match the comparison pattern it's expecting to see, they are out of correlation.
I should say, it's unlikely to be the cam sensor (far more likely to be the crank as that's what's flagged) but it is possible, so worth checking.
Well, a pretty fustrating few days.
Still got the intermittent crankshaft sensor fault. As per previous post, the sensor and harness check out ok but I thought I would replace the wiring harness connector.
Peugeot tell the part code is P6569HY but they nolonger supply it. I've searched ebay and google but no luck so far. Not keen on going to the scrappers for a part like this.
So does anyone know of a supplier for the connectors? Even something that can be modified to fit?
I got above this morning and it fits fine. Different coloured wiring harness though. And you guessed it, it didn't make a blind bit of difference. The P0339 code wouldn't delete. It is the only code on the Reader.
I've run out of ideas. Tomorrow, I'll re-check everything I've done, clean all the connections etc.
I think reading above you have not done anything with the cam shaft sensors. In this topic the fault turned out to be a cam shaft sensor viewtopic.php?t=58695 It also notes the PSA wording for P0339 does not mention crank shaft sensor but
is P0339: 'Intermittent fault, Engine speed signal: Incorrect signal'
If you post your vin admin might look up P0339 against your car.
We had one of the 2 cam shaft sensors fail on a 2010 petrol C3. Checking with a meter one of them gave different resistances across the pins but both were the same part number from what I can remember and a new one was the fix. I can not remember the fault code but it put it in limp mode and still ran.
Had a free hour this morning, so removed the cam sensors and checked the harness. Supply, signal and earth all appear to be ok (12v, 5v and continuity).
When I check the pins on the sensors I get 2.6-2.9 Mohms on one and 5 Mohms on the other sensor. I recall changing these out a few years ago. Not sure what ohms it should be. I'll check the Internet when I get back as well as re-running the test. A couple of cam sensors don't cost much.
Glad you've checked the cam sensors now.
There shouldn't be that much variation in resistance between the two, for sure.
Even without knowing what the correct spec is, that's quite a mismatch and suggests at least one is faulty.
Try and make sure you get good quality replacement sensors (not generic cheap crap) and I suggest measuring both the new ones for comparison, before fitting.

If it's 3 wires and is supplied power and ground, then it's going to be an active device. That is; it will have semiconductors in it, so doing resistance checks will reveal nothing.
It's most likely a Hall effect device. A passive device would be an inductive pick up and would consist of a single loop of wire requiring only 2 contacts.
Well, got two camshaft sensors and after a bit of work got them fitted; as usual engine threw over no bother. Tried to delete error code but it remained stubbornly there. However, I have two code reader apps on the 'phone and always try both as sometimes one will present info the other doesn't. So second app deleted code. Tried again, still nothing after several long cranks. Just about to 'phone the scrap yard, gave it one last try and away it went!
So spent most of the last two days putting everything back together, tidying up wirning harness connectors etc, and everything still looks good. Still need to take it for a road test and will do that in a couple of days.
The camshaft sensors seems to have been the final thing but I'm not convinced it was the only thing. If you recall, originally there was no error code, just the engine turning but not firing. Although there was power to the plugs and injectors, nothing fired. So that lead me to checking the ECU and finding the bad earth from the fusebox/relay, only after that was repaired did the error code appear.
So thanks you all for taking the time to read my posts and reply. Your advice kept me going and while a professional would have got there quicker, you got me there in the end.
