Couple of minute read on the
If you follow the route to Cresswell along the coast as intended here are a couple of things to look out for.
"Joseph Webb Sewer Gas Destructor Lamps" Seaton Sluice and Whitley Bay. The ones at Whitley Bay are painted light Green, one outside the Spanish City and one on the links you should pass by.

I went to Seaton Sluice a couple of years ago and missed that. All I saw was grass, sand, sea and the Blythe wind generators.

I transcribed your suggestion onto the route plan Neil and have plotted the yellow highlighted route as you can see, so if we don't see those it will be the navigator's fault!! 😀😀

You should be able to spot this Sewer Gas Lamp at Seaton Sluice even if the navigator is fast asleep :-D

Plenty landmarks....just before the bridge with the Blue Railings at Seaton Sluice, a big red cross on the church and the nicely positioned pub with the unusual name "The Melton Constable" which incidentally used to be Ray Kennedy's (Arsenal, Liverpool and Hartley Juniors footballer). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ray_Kennedy

Bit of bed time reading at the Worm, before you venture into Northumberland and another thing to spot on the journey up to the Drift.

Investment is being put in to recreate a passenger service from Ashington to Newcastle, the line is currently used for goods and freight, and went on past Ashington to service the former Lynemouth Aluminium Smelter, and Power station.

On the way up to the drift from Blyth on the A189 heading north as you cross the River Blyth. Glance left as you cross and you will see this iron bridge carrying the railway over the river.

There is a similar but longer Iron Girder Viaduct crossing the Wansbeck Estuary at North Seaton, known locally as the Black Bridge. It may just be visible from the A189 Bridge. The two photos from geograph show it in different moods!

and there's more....one thing which I guarantee you will not notice but you will drive past on your route up to Cresswell is this notice.

Second of last "verse" to "Tunnel of Love"..."rockaway rockaway from Cullercoats and Whitley Bay"
Well walk that way and you will see this sign at the High point between Cullercoats and Whitley Bay.
NewcastleFalcon wrote: 21 Jun 2019, 10:10 The area around Browns Bay between Cullercoats and WhitleyBay, is a hotspot for scuba diving because it contains the wrecks of the Butetown, the Zephyros and The Astley at just seven metres below the surface. The nearby reef is also home to lobsters, crabs, starfish and octopus.. Very popular spot for Diver Training, and the nearest place to park your car and whip your gear off and on is up by that little park.

Clearly there must have been a bit of bare flesh on display from time to time and there's nothing more offensive than a glimpse of bare flesh of course....surely not!

I certainly enjoyed Mick, Jim and Mike's venture to SE Northumberland early this morning and thanks to them for making it happen even though they missed most of the "points of interest" on the Falcon pre-journey tour-guide briefing on this thread! :-D

Jim didn't arrive in proper chariots of fire running gear, white shorts and singlet, but did enjoy a run along the overcrowded beach, and if you study the picture carefully you will spot our Citrojim in his usual bright green top, as he picks his way through the crowds on the beach at Druridge Bay :-D

Where's Jim :?: follow the tracks in the sand
