Again me :)

After replacing radio rd4 with rd45 and chaging display, I am not able to activate/deactivate daylights bulbs via radio, there is no option for it. Does it need to be enabled via lexia or...? Thanks

Very likely as you will have likely changed the screen and the Head Unit when switching over to RD45 and both the screen and Head Unit are configurable, so it is likely you will need to check this.

Did you get this working properly, with everything working as it should and full functionality on the USB connection, with logical playback of music ?

I'm considering a similar upgrade to a 2007 C4.

Yes, everything works as expected. I "recovered" missing options via the diagnostic app.
USB also works fine. There is some limit for USB storage, must be FAT and 4GB max. I am not sure, I tried with bigger one and it did not work.

Hello everyone, I'm new here and have bumped into this thread because I'm working on setting up a microphone for an RD45 bought from China, that I used to upgrade the original RD4 that my Citroen C4 from 2007 came with.

Please note I've also upgraded the screen as the one that was fitted with was not compatible with the RD45. The original RD4 came with Bluetooth from factory, although I later learned this is a just an add on module, and it does not support music streaming, only phone calls. In any case, I upgraded to an RD45 and wanted to use the existing microphone connection that the car has. I can see the pinout has been posted here, which is very useful, however my RD4 microphone has three cables, two white ones and a red one. I will try to use the connection using the pinout in this thread but I was wondering if anyone has had a similar experience? I tried in the past and went bonkers with it since I couldn't get it to work. I've also learnt in this thread that I will need to disable the factory bluetooth module if possible via Diagbox/Lexia. Many thanks in advance and looking forward to hear about any similar experiences!

I don't think that will work, the RD45 microphone is 2 wires. You're likely better spending a few £ on an RD45-specific microphone, unless you can figure out why yours has an extra wire.

As for wiring it, I'd recommend using a new loom specifically to run to the head unit, rather than trying to use the existing wiring, that goes "somewhere" in the dashboard. You will save hours for the cost, and it's not expensive, eg, https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/306891489119 or something that claims to be OEM https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/303819799882

Alternatively, a breaker may well have what you need, eg, https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/316827860051

I think that you will find that the microphone cable has 2 wires plus a shield wire that is connected at only one end. The RD4 (Bluetooth adapter) and RD45 microphones are I believe identical.

Did your car have a working Bluetooth adapter for phone calls? if not, the microphone was probably not fitted at the factory.

If I remember, I'll pull the light out of the van tomorrow and take a look.

Thanks very much for the quick (and detailed) response. I also thought about this option but sort of find it frustrating I cannot reuse what’s already installed, but it seems is my only option.

I did try today to connect the current microphone using the pinout on this thread to no avail. Very frustrating, particularly given how crappy the cables are. I’ll try and upload a picture.

That’s what I thought but I’m now thinking they’re not. And yes, that is correct, I had a working Bluetooth on the original RD4 unit. It was an optional spec back in 2007 here in Spain, if I remember correctly it was only 60 euros back then and it made sense. But it’s given me quite the headache these days!

I did try to reuse the existing wiring during my own RD4 -> RD45 swap.

I tried and failed to find where it went (I believe somewhere above the passenger's feet on a RHD Berlingo), gave up, and made a suitable loom in less time. 0.5mm wire and twist the pair together to avoid interference. Bit of cloth tape over the top, and it'l look factory.

I've just been to have a look at the wiring for mine.

The microphone and new loom uses 2 wires only. The vehicle loom (which would have been for the RD4 and NOMAD module setup) also only has a 2-wire connector and loom.

So I've no idea why yours is 3-wire.

I also dug this out of the notes I made when wiring the RD45,

The Microphone (8482) has 2 wires:-
Wire 8488 is the Telephone microphone earth input. This is Fakra B, Pin 1, "Microphone Ground"
Wire 8487 is the telephone hands-free input + signal. This is Fakra B, Pin 3, "Microphone +ve"
