The spare key for the Tourer needs a new battery.
It has never been used since new, even has the original label along the side, and although it was tested before the garage took the car to Peterborough for me to pick up t isn't working now.
Is this a diy job and what battery would I need if so.
Don't want to get the garage involved at the distance they are from me but they say they'll do it if I want.
Like I said, the car looks as if its just rolled off the production line averaging only 60 miles a week since new.
A new car for a snip of a price.

I like the Mazda but that one is a repaired write off Mick, an undamaged low mileage one could be near twice the price.

Re: C5 Tourer Exclusive
Does this spare key start the car in the ignition? If it does then it is still paired to the car and (providing the circuitry is not broken) the buttons can be synced to the car.
Pairing to the car needs the key code and a diagnostic reader, such as Diagbox, or specialised locksmith equipment. Syncing is something that the owner can do and is usually detailed in in the handbook. Syncing is usually needed when a key has not had a battery in for a long time, which is the situation I think you're in.

The door needs to be opened by inserting the key which sets off tha alarm.
However it still starts the engine when it's in the ignition.
I'll have a read of the manual for synching

If the door has been locked using the key fob remote and then opened with the key in the door this is exactly as it should be. Locking the door with the key in the lock doesn't set the interior alarm system. Only locking with the remote buttons sets the interior alarm as well - or at least should do.Lynnzer wrote: 29 Jan 2021, 10:39The door needs to be opened by inserting the key which sets off tha alarm.
Basically, re sync the remote by switching the ignition on and hold the lock button for 10 seconds then switch off. Wait 30 seconds and try the buttons. The complete procedure is slightly longer but this should do it.
EDIT
If the button locks the car but the other button won't unlock it then the remote is synced with the car. There's a physical problem with the button or circuitry on the key fob.

It's all in the manual:
CR0523 / 3 volts.

It's got a number on it, probably CR something, it may possibly have two, I have done one but I can't remember. Take the ring from the key and you can split the housing apart by prising it with a screwdriver or possibly a coin, you can see the battery then. I use Energizer batteries very inexpensive on Ebay. You will see the number on the battery, make sure you put it in the same way up.
