I had the same issue on both a C4 Cactus and a Partner Tepee. Replacing the front shock absorber with shock absorber mount fixed it. Maybe this will help someone.

Another recent topic with suspension knocking but we have to hear back on the fix once it is done viewtopic.php?t=89670
I would also check all the exhaust clamps as they can rust off on Citroens. If one needs replacing, rather than welding or replacing the exhaust, Autodoc sell repair brackets that just clamp on taking a few minutes to fit. I had to fit 1 on the last C3 and 2 on the Cactus. On the Cactus at first I thought the metallic knocking was from the engine or a pulley but pushing the exhaust tail pipe and then looking underneath found the culprits.
