That explains it - that's not the CPU then. The CPU is specific to the 3 areas I mentioned above. That picture on the left is the Engine ECU.... and that is how it is referred to.

Folks.
I am totally made up.
This is my 999th post and I can report that with all your help I got the HDi started for the first time in 22 months since the clutch went.
It’s not without fault and I will do a separate post about this. The intercooler pipe is collapsing when connected and I have some more faults to rectify.
I did a video of the restart and when I turned the key and the fuel pump kicked in it was really exciting for me who has never been able to understand electronics and I’ve gone from this to studying wiring diagrams, getting advice from the Forum, learning multimeter basics and finally understanding what an open circuit and actually finding the common denominator or so I thought and working it back to the ECU with the corroded pin and actually repairing that with a piece of speaker wire.
Total madness!
If someone had told me I would get the car going again having repaired the ECU myself 3 weeks ago and I’ve said you were mad.
Thanks guys. You are all stars. Marc deserves special thanks. So made up! I really am. Thanks.

Well done - you've done all the work - nice feeling isn't it?
Fingers crossed the other issues will be a breeze....

That over 6 months down the line the thing died and was resurrected again!
