Re: X7 front upper arm - inner bush replacement
But that was replaced and they are no longer selling LDS apart from old stocks, Fluide DA was a direct replacement as far as I can see.bobins wrote: 02 May 2020, 19:49For the same reason Total sell both LDS and Fluide DA when they are the same product ?GiveMeABreak wrote: 02 May 2020, 18:37 I just find it odd that Comma have Both these products listed on their website and if they are the same, why?.....

Re: X7 front upper arm - inner bush replacement
I have a theory: probable long term rack leak, plus losses during this work, have dropped the level to low (even after adding 1L)
*I have misread the levels in the past (the gauze seems to capture residual oil, making the level look ok when it isn't)
I haven't used the MVCHF that was bought, but have ordered some bottles of Syntex. These may take an age to arrive
Why I didn't change the rack whilst I was doing these bushes is a question for another day.. (there wasn't much side space for starters)
The landlord has his trolley jack back (a proper workshop one, unlike mine) - front wheels have timber underneath now.

Re: X7 front upper arm - inner bush replacement
3 Litres was needed to get back to the correct level!.. (how much does the system hold?)
at least it's back together
will now peruse the many rack threads … as there is a leak for sure at the pinion.. it's not so bad as to drop onto the road below, but I guess it's just a matter of time..
I suspect I am doing a litre every 10K, but it's academic really.
The job of changing the (perfectly fine!) 4 upper inner bushes wasn't too bad really. It takes some time but if I had to do it all again right now, I think I could manage it all in a weekend.
I cut the ABS leads.. I am sure I could have disconnected them somewhere in the engine bay, but just couldn't be bothered.. re-soldered back together and heat shrink and outer covering.
The caliper fits through the gap between the strut and the lower arm, as long as the carrier isn't removed, and after driveshaft set to one side.
I removed the discs part way through, at the whole assembly is heavy enough and having discs out of way helps visibility through the job.
the disc cover-plates also get in the way a bit, I would remove these at the very beginning. (I would make sure some penetrating fluid is on the small bolts a few days before)
I did both sides at same time, in future I may just do one side completely then swap.
nothing else to add really

Re: X7 front upper arm - inner bush replacement
You can often find equivalent tools on the aftermarket, but Citroen generally do not sell their tools outside the dealer network. As you're probably looking at an internal document not intended for public use, that will be an internal reference for the tool. Their tools are often sold in sets or kits, so would not be feasible generally.
So you'll have to google for the tools by trial and error until you see something that resembles what you are after.

Re: X7 front upper arm - inner bush replacement
Thanks Marc, i have find one for the lower silent block. However, that seems to be the only one. Has anyone already tried to replace the upper bushings? I find a lot of topics concerning the lower ones (seems to be a common issue on these cars), but it is very quiet when it comes to the upper ones.

Re: X7 front upper arm - inner bush replacement
Have a look at this post. There are some diagrams showing the front suspension geometry /axle parts.

Re: X7 front upper arm - inner bush replacement
Thanks Marc.
I was looking for that topic since it lists the orga numbers when the alu frames started. I think a good place for me to start is the dealer and hear if they sell separate bushings. If not then it will depend on the prices for the part.
