I wouldn't bother doing that - The BSI only passes the information on to the engine ECU and the transponder coil and itself of course - but it won't be the BSI I suspect - the data is simply not getting to the BSI, so there is likely nothing to handshake with or pass on. If the BSI is not getting the data, it is not going to make any difference.

Why don't you do the test I suggested with your PP2000? That will tell you whether the key is being recognised or not or whether it is getting any data. If you have your own PP2000 that has to be your first step as it is no good replacing parts that may be perfectly ok.

The transponder coil is incorporated into the steering lock - but there are no specific removal instructions for replacing this. It probably requires the 2 halves of the steering wheel cowl to be removed and then there are some screws that may need to be tapped out when replacing the steering lock - but I can't say for sure how the transponder coil is located into the unit from the data I have.
