Boots: I unsnap the gaiters from the bottom as they're 'easier' to get back on.

Timing belts: the original, 11 year-old / 67,000 mile, belt that came off the green lady was perished on both sides and when flexed the white (glass-fibre?) cords were visible in the cracks (and looking a bit frayed at the roots of some teeth) - hence the general shock-horror at the state of the belt.
2012 Subaru Forester - capable but no magic carpet
2011 Grand C4 Picasso VTR+ 1.6HDi - not missed!
1995 Xantia Estate SX 1.9TD in Vert Vega "The Green Lady" - sadly missed
1998 Xantia 2.1 VXD Estate in Mauritius Blue - R.I.P. (terminal tin-worm)

Not quite what I said. The belt will soon be eight years old. If I wait until its due mileage the belt will be nine years old. I'll probably change it in the new year when it will be around 8.5 years old and the mileage c210k.

As for the make I'll tell you when I take it off. :P
