Keep at it:-

If forced to move mechanically, the rear view mirror folding back mechanism disengages. The electrical status of the position of the exterior rear view mirrors no longer corresponds to the mechanical position of the exterior rear view mirrors.

In order to engage the mechanism and align the electrical status of the position of the exterior rear view mirrors with the mechanical position of the exterior rear view mirrors, several folding and unfolding commands may be necessary.

Thanks for replying. Do you mean just apply a lot of use of the control on the driver's door?
My other car is a 2cv

Yes, you just need to undertake plenty of fully open and retract cycles for the system to re-align. The mirrors are designed to move back if knocked for example, but should sort themselves out over time.

Apologies for my complete lack of understanding also if I've got this, my first post on any forum incorrect.
I'm unsure if I should just 'force' the removal of the mirror glass or I actually need to unclip any retainers before such forcing?
The main problem I have is the passenger door mirror (C5 Mk2 2010 Tourer) has given up folding hence my need for a replacement but I'm having difficulty finding a supplier that can source a replacement unit with electrochromatic glass.
Any suggestions welcomed.

Hi and welcome.

Have a look at my post here with removal details of the mirror. Also, be aware that there are quite a few variations of model of these mirror depending on the functions - they are not cheap with some costing just about £750 each new.
