My HDi did the same thing... the clock would sometimes work for months and then other times it would last a few hours before resetting. It would also fade out and also it would do it when the car was off.

Mine seems to have been fixed now after changing the routing of the earth feed for it. The OEM method takes it right round to the battery with several connections and splices along the way... I think you follow my logic here.....

So you think it's an earthing problem then ? Did you just identify the earth wire on the feed to the clock, cut it and add a new earth terminal to the chassis nearby for it ?

we twinned the earth for the clock with the stereo earth :)

Came across this topic as I am also interested in the clock repair... I would like to know if it is the same bulb that is used for recirculate control and which wire is for earth? Of course I will also inspect the clock also for faulty soldiers.
