I'd ba amazed if it hasn't at least smashed some rockers. i'd be pulling the cam covers off for a look first.

Yes that is what I was doing this morning before wor, I got the top pully allined with the hole and pushed a 6mm Allan key in but had to rotate bottom crank pully to allow top to move and it moves in notches due to compression the bottom one has no compression but is stiff to turn with short bar so I guess all good, but I’m tempted to remove top to check where top dead centre is the bottom crank has no hole to lock I’m guessing the position is with keyway at 12 clock I have done that but it’s not quite there and there’s no way to lock it, I think top off is best plan but disturbing the injectors not a good idea on a hdi,

Yes reluctantly that is what I’m doing this morning need to be sure timing is correct so top has to come off so I can find top dead centre and get parts ordered.

I can’t find the flywheel timing hole to lock it?? And ideas ??

Top is all re built and refitted, belt is refitted, turning crank with braker bar rotates a quarter in both directions and stops so sump off next see what’s catching
