I wonder if the difference in 2.1 engines is the EPIC pump because all my XMs have had mechanical Bosch pumps and all pull well and smoothly from very low revs. The Hdi pulls well if you put your foot down hard but you can feel vibration until 1500 rpm thn it stops, its not severe but not smooth like the XM. I don't think that the engine is vibrating excessively but its being transmitted to the car.

Our Xm is also Bosch and does pull well low down, but the HDis seem better, more pull even lower down the revs.
Not sure why your HDi doesnt like pulling from low revs though.

My HDi 110 Xantia is noticeably smoother and pulls better at <1500 rpm since I changed the cambelt. Timing was apparently bob on both before and after the new belt was fitted, but it definitely feels better
HDi 110 is leagues ahead of the 1.9TD - I can't imagine going back to a Xantia 1.9TD now - I might have a ZX TD on veg if the cost of dino diesel keeps soaring

My thoughts exactly Richard, Ive kept my 1,9td SX Xantia of 1994 vintage, for BIO reasons, and also she has my plate on her too....RichardW wrote:My HDi 110 Xantia is noticeably smoother and pulls better at <1500 rpm since I changed the cambelt. No, thats not right Peter, they shouldn't do that. Our 110 HDis are very happy pulling away from 40 in 5th and 30 in 4th. No problems, no vibrations and they pull well from that too.
My 138 will drop to almost tickover in 6th and pull away strongly without me having to change down! On the level mind, but still ...
You dont get that with a 2.1, Bosch or not!

A fine explaination, thanks Xac.Xac wrote:Imagine two self flushing lavatories, each with their own cistern fed from a single tank, but with an overflow pipe between them, and each with an overflow to the drains.
The one on the left (power steering) is smaller so fills up quicker.
Once full water flows through the overflow pipe into the suspension/brakes cistern, so it fills faster than if it was just using it's own water supply.
Once both are full the water overflows to the drains (LHM resevoir).
Someone flushes the left toilet (turns the steering wheel) so the water level above drops, and is replenished from the tank's flow to the steering cistern, and via the the linking overflow pipe, the tank's flow to the suspension cistern.
What's stopping you plumbing both pipes off a 6+2 pump into a T piece with the open end going to an FDV, then supplying the steering and brakes from that? Apart from the nightmare of the plumbing is there anything technically stopping you from doing that?

I am finding the exact opposite, you can slow down to tickover speed with the XM and it will pull away smoothly, if I do that with the Hdi it complains until it reaches 1500 rpm, not severely in fact under light throttle you can hardly feel but if you floor it, it just feels as though its turning to slowly.Citroenmad wrote:No, thats not right Peter, they shouldn't do that. XUD Common items for Oil Leaks:jacksun1987 wrote:i Could go to bob wilding. About the oil leak and see what he says. Bullwinkle said it means taken the engine aport to find it. Cost a bomb it will. Im a bit lucky in the middle of 2 good Citroën services.
Cam shaft seal behind the Top pully - cam belt off of course...
Rocker cover seal, even rocker cover bolts can rattle loose and let oil out.
Crank Seal behind crank sprocket bottom end.
At worse, oil sump gasket...
Tell tails can help.. which side of the engine is it dripping off??? Cam belt area??, lower engine mount??, between gearbox and engine??

Well if or when it goes it goes. Battrey not charging as well. The light comes on after standing in traffic for about 5 minites standing. Could this be the battery or the alternater.
It still starts up first time. Evern in the cold weather and leaving stuff on by accident. Like i left my radio on for 8 houres. Still started. But this last month now and againe the light comes on for the battery.
